    like the mentioned error, you are probably not very good with pkg-config installed

    $ sudo apt-get install pkg-config

    I have been using Linux for most of the first two days. I feel like I’m doing my best to learn terminal commands etc.

    I’m finally trying to install Gimp. After running ./configure , I got the following error:

      configure: error: GNU gettext tools are barely found; intl tool required

    I installed this intltool a few hours ago when it was an old version.

      update apt-getapt-get upgradeInstall apt-getapt-get install it gettext

    Unfortunately, the news shows us all that no course could be found. Am

    I am using Kali Linux because I know it is Debian based so I tagged it as well.

    The configure script does not work because it cannot find all gettext tools in the current $ PATH . These tools include msgfmt xgettext and other binaries.

    On macOS with Homebrew, most of the homebrew package gettext actually installs these binaries, but they are in the /usr/local/Cellar/gettext/0.18.1 directory. Directory 1 / bin instead of directly in / usr / local / bin .

    The reason for writing this article is that homebrew may be the only kegg installed in the footer, while gettext may be the kegg package.

    If everything works as expected, your gettext tools are ideally already symbolically in your current Cellar directory with / usr / local / bin. linked , and if your homebrew config can be correct, / usr / local / bin should be in your $ PATH .

    Obviously, this important fact is misconfigured. I would suggest making sure your $ PATH is set up correctly, while / usr / local / bin comes before / usr / bin and what it is there is a link for the gettext tools from the footer to / usr / local / bin , this directory. Fixing any of these things will fix the problem for you.

    Update: According to this answer from SuperUser, symlinks are the same are that you may not have configured the default gettext tools correctly. The following command will do it:

      $ process link for brewing gettext --force

    When you see another compiled application, you need to click to undo the above steps

      $ Espresso Ungroup with Gettext

    This other answer on StackOverflow further clarifies that executables associated with homebrew packages that are “just barrels” ( gettext is likely to be one) don’t even come from “ basement “. are “linked” in / usr / local / bin . This is by design. This explains why the configure script requires brew link go to work properly.

    The barrel-only template binaries are not inserted. You can use the default $ PATH so that they can interfere with the tools and devices of the same name that are already present on the macOS platform system.
